when i saw a post on instagram suggesting silver elite if you liked divergent, i thought, ok, let me try this again with an open mind, because katniss for adults is NOT the vibe. this has ZERO katniss energy and that BOTM promo PMO. so, basically, if you also fell for the "katniss vibes" promo, i am telling you now, it will disappoint you. think of it more like divergent and then it becomes more likable.

BUT--wren is still one of the most unlikeable FMCs i have had the displeasure of reading. but i loved lyddie & kaine **SPOILERS WILL BE COMMENCING NOW**

i kept reading bc i loved those characters so much, and wtaf x2 for kaine...when he died i was like yeah im done, but then i learned he never died so like ok! epic!! lyddie tho...wtf. i loved her so much and she BETRAYED WREN??? but also like wtf wren why would you heal the scars that was so dumb my god! also it was predictable for cross to be wolf, but part of me had really hoped that it would be kaine instead, i feel like that would have generated a really interesting love triangle -- but i'm chill with cross being wolf. i just hate how quickly he was like oh i love you -- it felt too anticlimactic to me idk

anyways, i did find the book more enjoyable when the other characters appeared more often, if wren was just more likable i could see myself giving this a 4, but she just pissed me off so bad.

tldr; wren sucks // and is NOTHING like katniss everdeen so BOTM needs to change their marketing to not mislead people bc it will lead to a lot of pissed off reviewers who expected something entirely different.
