Are you ready for Aster Shoreland?
Good, we are too.
Aster Shoreland is brilliant, snarky, and barely keeping it together. Every day, she's forced to interact with the worst person alive: Kol Han. He's an obnoxious flirt and irritatingly smart—except he seems to flirt with everyone except Aster.
So when her Twilight-obsessed roommate Jessica Sangwine starts acting weird and invites her to a frat party, Aster's already suspicious. Whose frat? Kol's, naturally.
The night goes from bad to worse when Jessica disappears. Then Aster ends up with deep cuts, venom burning down her neck, and her throat about to be snapped. The last thing she sees before everything goes black? Kol's face.
She wakes up in his room.
His normally sweet roommate Oliver is having a breakdown.
And Aster? She doesn't feel like herself—and based on the horror in their eyes, she definitely isn't.
Turns out, after Oliver attacked her, Kol had two choices: turn her into a vampire or let her die.
He chose wrong, according to Aster.
But there's still no sign of Jessica. Desperate to find her best friend, Aster is forced to team up with Kol, Oliver, and a witch to track her down. What they uncover is way worse than a missing roommate: the Sangwine legacy, divine powers, and the darkest parts of being a vampire.
This book is at its core a horror novel. The body horror imagery is deeply disturbing and the 'romance' in this book is meant to be strange and sort of toxic. This story explores the dynamics of obsession and the rotten things we desire as creatures...

“What did I deserve anyway?
Did I deserve his truth?
Did I deserve anything from him?
He had given me life when I had lost it—when I had nothing left but a failing heartbeat, he gave me the gift of life.
Why did I view him this way—almost as a God?”
