The Hurricane Wars
☆☆☆☆/★★★★★
4/5 stars.
I am going to be honest I thought this book was a bit difficult to get into at first - and I do not mean because of the world building. I find it strange that the magic system is not fully hashed out and somehow it feels very sudden for *SPOILERS INCOMING*
[Talasyn to be a long lost princess-that felt so random to me. But once the arranged marriage stuff started happening I was like oh yeah, I'm feeling this now. It actually feels like enemies to lovers where I am just fking screaming at my book for them to kiss and to just SAY YOU'RE OBSESSED WITH EACH OTHER AHHH. No, but I dig that. (hide spoiler)] I just think the story got infinitely better at ~60%.
Either way, the book is good, I like the colorful language, I like Alaric, I like Talasyn, etc. I also LOVE the Nenavar Dominion, just everything about it is lovely and amazing. I am pretty much physically there given the descriptions & I love the food descriptions 100000/10 for Nenavar.
Anyways, I only give this 4 (4.5)/5 because the aether-mancing is not as explained as I would like and I still feel confused about some aspects of it. Perhaps book 2 will answer those questions. I like the characters, the places, the descriptions, and the story. I just didn't care much about it until over halfway through when it started picking up! Great book, though!
